What Happens During a Root Canal?
A root canal is a multi-step process that requires careful planning before the procedure can begin. Using a 3D model of your affected tooth, one of our dentists will prepare a treatment plan.
On the day of your procedure, you will arrive and receive local anesthesia to numb the tooth thoroughly and the surrounding area. When ready, we will open the crown and begin clearing the root canals and the pulp chamber, removing the infected pulp and bacteria. Once everything is sterilized, we’ll place gutta-percha, a biocompatible substance that fills in the space previously occupied by the pulp. After sealing the tooth to prevent reinfection, we will place a customized dental crown on top.
